The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.
 
Skills:
  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Team player and detail oriented.
  • Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
  • Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
 
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • 2-4 years’ experience required.
 
IMPORTANT
*Project management will be 95% of the assignment. *
  • Equipment Installations and Facilities Equipment Experience
  • Industrial Engineers, Chemical Engineers, and production supervisors DO NOT have the right skillset for facilities.
 
Responsible for
  • Providing technical direction to and oversight of resident Business Partners and outside contractors ensuring safe work practices are utilized to complete their work
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of facilities equipment and tools required in plants in support of production of high-quality parts.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and municipalities.
 
Top 3 skills:
  • Engineering Degree preferred
  • Problem solving, & technical writing
  • Experience managing multiple construction projects
 
Personality: energetic, process driven – can’t be heads down because we need to communicate and work as a team.
 
  • Non-portfolio project funds such as roof replacement, boiler replacement, abatement projects. An engineer who must focus their time on manufacturing remodeling.
    • Providing technical direction to and oversight of resident Business Partners and outside contractors ensuring safe work practices are utilized to complete their work
    • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of facilities equipment and tools required in plants in support of production of high-quality parts.
    • Interface with regulatory agencies and municipalities
    • Chance for extension.
 
  • Equipment Installations and Facilities Equipment Experience-
  • Supporting HVAC, chillers, boiler systems, water systems. Supplying electricity, air, any industrial objects from a mechanical standpoint. Work on bringing in contractors to say replace a boiler, etc.
  • Large equipment installations. The candidate should understand how to install and remove a boiler. Fire suppression line breaks, go fix it and shut off and isolate until getting repaired.
  • How to work with contractors, make decisions, how to force a contractor into a schedule that the contract has already provided. Come up with a solution when they’re behind in work.
  • If the candidate had an internship doing this type of work, the manager would like to meet them as that is experience
