Materials Engineer – Intermediate #892525
Job Description:
  • Responsible for the development of Materials (tapes, func coatings, soft trim, fabrics, polymer, etc.) for vehicle applications;
  • Responsible for working closely with Platform Engineers, sub-tier suppliers and materials suppliers in the formulation, development and specification of soft trim materials for vehicle applications.
  • Knowledge of vehicle materials is a must for this position.
  • The engineer will also be responsible for approving production suppliers and managing short- and long-term materials development programs.
  • In addition, the Materials Engineer will be responsible for the development of materials, processes, and preferred practices for vehicle applications.
  • The engineer is responsible for maintaining materials specifications for their respective area and for the development of long-term strategies for vehicle material technology to achieve corporate objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Textiles, Materials Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the development, processing and application of materials in automotive and related applications
  • Program Management capability to organize short- and long-term materials development projects
  • Experience with material formulation and processes and development of materials.
  • Hybrid work at CTC
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters of Science degree in Textiles, Materials Engineering, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent fields is preferred
  • 5 years’ experience with material formulation and processes.
  • Direct experience as OEM or as an OEM tier supplier for components
  • Ability to analyze chemistry lab test results as part of engineering problem solving
  • Program management capability to organize short- and long-term materials development projects and assist in the development of materials and processes preferred practices for soft trim materials for vehicle applications.
  • Ability to develop long term strategy in materials and process applications as applies to sustainability
