Job Description:

• Seeking an experienced and highly competent Senior Level COBOL Software Engineer/Developer to work on Enhancement, New Development, & Production Support Projects for a mission critical Legacy Application (Vehicle Invoicing and Drafting, VI&D).
• Vehicle Invoicing and Drafting is a Mainframe/COBOL Legacy application; approx.
• 50+ years old with Online and Batch Programs.
• The ideal candidate is independent, very organized, with a keen sense of detail and a natural ability to develop solutions.
• Candidate performs superbly under pressure and can balance a number of disparate projects.
• The Software Engineer must deliver their project on time and with high quality, according to defined processes.
• Experience with Agile methodology is a must.
• Difficult situations and business partner conversations must be handled tactfully.
• Some experience in using advanced technologies (Java, SAP, etc) is desired.
• Both the Business and the Team must like you, trust you, and feel comfortable around you.
• VI&D is a mission critical application and core to Company, so some level of stress is expected.

• Strong ability to drive requirements gathering process with Business Partners
• Superior Technical competency with great initiative
• Strong can do attitude. with a natural ability to understand a complex Application and interconnections with upstream and downstream Applications

 
Skills Preferred:

• Empowered, Friendly, Technically Competent, Responsible, Analytical, Team Player, Problem Solver Should be independent and empowered
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills;
• VERY PROCESS/DETAIL ORIENTED
• Some experience using advanced Technologies (including Java, SAP, etc) is desired

 
Experience Required:

• 10+ years of advanced experience working on a complex Legacy Applications

 
Experience Preferred:

• Experience with Agile Process and Rally
• Experience in using Web based technologies with COBOL

 
Education Required:

• BA+ in Computer Science or related industry
