Duties:
- This role is onsite. Preferred location is Jackson, Lansing or Saginaw. Other office locations are negotiable.
- This position is in the Distribution Engineering Services Department which is responsible for developing and maintaining GIS Products for use with Natural Gas Distribution Construction projects from planning through records development.
- The Distribution Engineering Services (DES) Team is responsible for collecting hi-accuracy GIS data on newly installed gas distribution infrastructure throughout the company's service territory.
- Field collected data is managed and maintained by the back-office support team within DES and is responsible for providing GIS data to the Distribution GIS department for inclusion in the corporate GIS record.
- The position is responsible for interpreting information coming from Distribution Engineering CAD Designs and topographic surveys for use in generating ArcGIS web maps and populating the DES GIS portal.
- Additionally, the position will be responsible for interpreting GIS information coming from the field in ArcGIS Pro and packaging standardized GIS deliverables for various departments within the company.
- Documenting standard work instructions for various GIS project applications and process workflows is also required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in using GIS software.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to manage their workload effectively with little supervision and actively learn new skills, systems, and procedures.
- Proficient with ESRI GIS software and field mobility applications, Windows, Microsoft Office, GIS concepts and Global Positioning System (GPS) principles. Dependable, Logical thinking and self-motivated.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems or a related field.
