Back-end Software Development Engineer #1062787Job Description:
- Ford Credit IT is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer with Agentic AI capabilities to join our Core Originations Team in Chennai. In this role, you will design, build, and modernize enterprise-grade software applications powering Ford Credit's global credit originations platform.
- Operating within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) product delivery model, you will leverage modern Java frameworks, microservices architecture, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), modern frontend technologies, and cutting-edge Agentic AI & Generative AI architectures (Spring AI, LangChain4j, RAG, tool calling) to automate complex workflows and deliver intelligent, seamless user experiences.
Ability to communicate and work with cross-functional teams and all levels of management , Automation, DevOps, AI, Java Full stack, Application Support, Application Testing, Database - DB2/UDB, GCP
Skills Preferred:
- AI Core Java & Microservices Architecture
- hands-on experience designing and developing enterprise microservices using Java 17/21+ and Spring Boot (3.x).
- Deep experience in designing RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and event-driven architectures (Kafka / RabbitMQ).
- Expertise in API Security using OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, Web SSO, and API gateway integrations.
- Strong proficiency in Relational Databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL) and ORM frameworks (Spring Data JPA / Hibernate).
- Frontend Development & AI UI/UX:
- Proficient in React.js with TypeScript, HTML5/CSS3, NPM, and modern state management.
- Experience implementing real-time streaming interfaces using Server-Sent Events (SSE) or WebSockets for live agent response streaming.
- Ability to build responsive UI components for chat, Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) approval flows, and interactive AI dashboards.
- Tooling, Security, DevOps & Process:
- Strong security mindset with hands-on exposure to code quality and security tools (e.g., SonarQube, 42Crunch, FOSSA, Cycode).
- Proficiency with development and testing tools: IntelliJ IDEA / VS Code, Postman / Hoppscotch, JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers.
- Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Tekton, GitHub Actions), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Demonstrated experience working in Agile/Scrum product teams, driving end-to-end delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent logical reasoning, lateral thinking, and written/verbal communication skills.

- Practical experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embedding models, dynamic chunking, and Vector Databases.
- Familiarity with AI guardrails, prompt engineering techniques, deterministic fallback logic, and token/cost optimization.

- Core Application Development & Full Stack Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Full Stack microservices (Java 17+, Spring Boot, React/TypeScript) for Ford Credit Core Originations applications.
- Design, implement, and manage secure RESTful APIs and API proxies using APIGEE API Management platform in accordance with Ford security standards.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and support core Originations applications running on both modern and legacy Java frameworks, ensuring high availability and system resilience.
- Collaborate with Portfolio Architects to update and align system designs with Ford Credit Build Intent diagrams and Enterprise Architecture standards.
- Agentic AI & Intelligent Automation Integration
- Build secure, scalable tool-calling interfaces (via REST/APIGEE) that enable AI agents to safely execute actions across enterprise services.
- Support PoC initiatives to evaluate emerging Generative AI, multi-agent frameworks, and vector search technologies for Ford Credit IT.
- Implement robust AI safety guardrails, prompt injection defences, deterministic fallback mechanisms, and cost/token monitoring.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration, Testing & Operational Support
- Partner with cross-functional product teams (Ford Credit Global Client team, Skill teams, and Business Operations) to translate complex functional requirements into technical deliverables.
- Design and execute comprehensive unit, integration, and AI response evaluation tests using JUnit, Mockito, and automated test tools.
- Provide tier-3 application technical support, root-cause troubleshooting, and resolution for complex production incidents.
- Support application modernizations, technology upgrades, and cloud migration initiatives across Originations systems.
